Rocket Skates

Ava liked some skates with rocket pictures. They cost eleven coins. She had four.

But she didn't have to wait for an imaginary trip to space.

At the track, Mum helped choose a clear place to play. Louis drew a chalk moon. I became Mission Control.

Ready for lift-off!

Ava stepped over the pretend craters. On the moon they found a twig.

“Moon tree!” she whispered.

They jumped back to Earth. The four coins stayed on Ava's band.

“Tomorrow,” she told Mum, “we're visiting a planet with bigger trees.”
